Sermon: Prayers of Babylon Rejected

Feb. 27, 2021 (16th of 12th month)

John 9:31 Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth.

God doesn't pay attention to and answer the prayers of Babylonian religious people & their leaders, and other sinners, except for repentance and salvation if and when they come to the truth.

We often see books of prayers; and we also often see famous prayers posted on social media.
Many of these are popular, well known prayers from Babylonian leaders such as:
"Instrument of Your Peace" by St. Francis of Assisi
Christ Be With Me – St. Patrick
Covenant Prayer – John Wesley
Lead Us – St. Augustine
Let Me Serve You – St. Theresa of Avila
Empty Vessel – Martin Luther
A Boy Scouts' Patrol Song Poem - Rudyard Kipling
The so called "sinner's prayer" where people just read it in a gospel tract or "repeat after me".

Rudyard Kipling: (1865 – 1936) was an English journalist, short-story writer, poet and novelist. He was born in India.
Kipling's works of fiction include The Jungle Book (1894), Kim (1901), and many short stories, including "The Man Who Would Be King" (1888).
Kipling in the late 19th and early 20th centuries was among the United Kingdom's most popular writers. In 1907, he was awarded the Nobel Prize in literature. All Nobel prize winners are riders of the white horse of Rev. 6.
He was a 3rd degree Freemason, which is a form of Islam which is part of the green horse of Rev. 6.
Many of his books included the swastika on it as a Hindu symbol. Swastika = black horse.
Hinduism came from Islam.

Sin separates sinners from God:

Isa. 59:2-4 But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear. 3 For your hands are defiled with blood, and your fingers with iniquity; your lips have spoken lies, your tongue hath muttered perverseness. 4 None calleth for justice, nor any pleadeth for truth: they trust in vanity, and speak lies; they conceive mischief, and bring forth iniquity.

The hypocrite prayers and sacrifices are not appreciated by GOD:

Isa. 1:15-20 And when ye spread forth your hands, I will hide mine eyes from you: yea, when ye make many prayers, I will not hear: your hands are full of blood.
16 Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; cease to do evil;
17 Learn to do well; seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow.
18 Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.
19 If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land:
20 But if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.

Did you read the above scriptures in your personal paperback/hardback bible today or just only on this website?
If only online, I encourage you to please open your bible and read these verses both on our website and in your bible. There is power in reading the real bible. Also, did you pray before beginning to read about this specific subject today? If not, I encourage you to take the time now to pray for understanding of truth.

There are good prayers of good people in the bible for our examples of how to pray, such as the Prayer of Manasseh & many others. But not for us to repeat as our own prayers. Jesus wants us to pray from our own heart. He wants to hear your prayer, not someone else's.

However, the falsely called "Lord's Prayer" is a popular prayer for people to repeat often. But God doesn't want us to repeat it often.
He wants to hear us pray from our heart, our own words.
And it wasn't even a prayer but rather a teaching of how to pray.
He didn't say "repeat the prayers of other people".

Matt. 6:1-13 Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven.
2 Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
3 But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth:
4 That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.
5 And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.
7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.
(Vain repetitions would include "hail marys" as well as repeating other people's prayers instead of saying your own prayers.)
8 Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.
9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
11 Give us this day our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
("For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen." was added into this verse. It did not appear in the original. Luke 11 shows that Jesus did not say this. Jesus didn't conclude it with "Amen" because He wasn't really praying, he was only teaching how to pray "in this manner/way" verse 9.)

Religious leaders who Jesus rejects because of their lawlessness:

Matt. 7:21-29 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:
25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.
26 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:
27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.
28 And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were astonished at his doctrine:
29 For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.

Matt. 15:8-9 This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me. But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.

Rev. 18:4 And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.

Their leaders are not our leaders. Their prayers are not our prayers.

If the Babylonian church leaders do not serve the true God, who are they really praying to?

Jesus rejects their prayers. Pray your own prayers. Not someone else's!

Confirmation: Earlier today, someone had left 2 bibles on the porch of the ministry, as people occasionally drop off clothes and stuff for the ministry to distribute to the poor and needy. But just now, just a few minutes after posting the notes for today's sermon, I looked in these bibles and one of them has one of the famous prayers! The "Serenity Prayer"! Although I didn't list this particular/specific prayer in the notes, it is definitely one of the famous/popular prayers for people to post/share and to repeat as their own. This is an amazing confirmation of the sermon!
Update: The very next week, I notice in the 2nd bible, two four-leaf clovers! That's related to St. Patrick which is listed at the top of this page in the list of Babylonian leaders' vain prayers!

The prayer was written by: Karl Paul Reinhold Niebuhr (1892–1971), "was an American Reformed theologian, ethicist, commentator on politics and public affairs, and professor at Union Theological Seminary for more than 30 years.
Activists such as ... Martin Luther King Jr. and numerous politicians have also cited his influence on their thought, including Hillary Clinton... Barack Obama and Jimmy Carter. Barack Obama said that Niebuhr was his "favourite philosopher" and "favorite theologian".
Niebuhr was also one of the founders of "Americans for Democratic Action", a Democrat organization! During the 1930s, Niebuhr was a prominent leader of the militant faction of the Socialist Party of America... In 1941, he co-founded the Union for Democratic Action, a group with a strongly militarily interventionist, internationalist foreign policy and a pro-union, liberal domestic policy. He was the group's president until it transformed into the Americans for Democratic Action in 1947."
