When Are We Saved?

For many of you this is a easy question and you already understand the concept of salvation. But there are also many people who have been misled concerning this topic. Therefore I am led to write this important article.

Accusation: "We are not saved in this life. Salvation is a process. We are saved at the Resurrection and not until then. Saved from what? eternal death of course. Therefore we are not saved until we receive eternal life at the resurrection."

Answer:
Yes it is true that Salvation is a process and that the process is not over with until we are fully Spirit and no longer flesh. However, Salvation has begun as soon as a person accepts Christ as their Saviour and then is sealed when they receive The Holy Spirit of God wherein is Eternal Life immediately. We are therefore now saved and have eternal life and will not suffer the second death. We then continue to grow in the salvation and continue to work out our salvation. (It can be lost. We are not once saved always saved). It is acceptable and appropriate for a Christian to say that they are saved. To try to focus on the words "saved/salvation" and deny that we are saved in this life is to strive about words. It is an important doctrine and message to get out to the people in this life that Salvation is available to them.

Here are some passages that indicate that Salvation has already begun, therefore we can say we are Saved now:

Luke 7:50
And he said to the woman, Thy faith hath saved thee; go in peace.

Romans 8:24
For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for?

1 Corinthians 1:18
For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.

1 Corinthians 15:2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.

Ephesians 2:5
Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)

Ephesians 2:8
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

1 Timothy 2:4
Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. (knowledge of truth is for now, Salvation is for now)

2 Timothy 1:9
Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,

Titus 3:5
Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;

Romans 10:10
For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

2 Corinthians 6:2
For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.

Ephesians 1:13
In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,

Ephesians 6:17
And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

2 Timothy 3:15
And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith (not just through the resurrection) which is in Christ Jesus.

Hebrews 6:9
But, beloved, we are persuaded better things of you, and things that accompany salvation, though we thus speak.

2 Corinthians 1:22
Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts.

Ephesians 4:30
And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

1 John 5:13
These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
