Is Cremation of the Dead Acceptable or Pagan?

This is a very controversial subject and many people have very strong opinions about it. But we should not be concerned with opinions. We must seek the will of our Creator/Father. Our first step in seeking the will of The Creator is to search the Holy Scriptures, and to pray and fast. What does the bible say about cremation of the dead? Unlike most people, we should not seek only the verses that support what we want to believe, but rather, to seek every verse in the bible that has anything to do with the topic and sincerely search for what the truth is. (All bible verses listed below are in KJV only because there are many people who refuse the truth if not read from the traditional bible of their western religion/denomination of mankind.)

2 Samuel 21:12-14
:12 And David went and took the bones of Saul and the bones of Jonathan his son from the men of Jabeshgilead, which had stolen them from the street of Bethshan, where the Philistines had hanged them, when the Philistines had slain Saul in Gilboa:
13 And he brought up from thence the bones of Saul and the bones of Jonathan his son; and they gathered the bones of them that were hanged.
14 And the bones of Saul and Jonathan his son buried they in the country of Benjamin in Zelah, in the sepulchre of Kish his father: and they performed all that the king commanded. And after that God was intreated for the land.

1 Samuel 31:12-13
:12 All the valiant men arose, and went all night, and took the body of Saul and the bodies of his sons from the wall of Bethshan, and came to Jabesh, and burnt them there.
13 And they took their bones, and buried them under a tree at Jabesh, and fasted seven days.

Therefore, we see that David did not view cremation as pagan, wrong or sinful. We know that David was not a pagan or wicked man. He was a man after God's own heart. Jonathan was his best friend. David cremated his best friend. Although it may have been for specific reasons, regardless of the reason, David did not forbid or avoid cremation.

Ecclesiastes 12:7 "Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it".

Did you read the above scriptures in your personal paperback/hardback bible today or just only on this website?
If only online, I encourage you to please open your bible and read these verses both on our website and in your bible. There is power in reading the real bible. Also, did you pray before beginning to read about this specific subject today? If not, I encourage you to take the time now to pray for understanding of truth.

Regardless of whether we are buried or cremated, our bodies will eventually turn to dust. Cremation only greatly speeds up the process. The Creator is not limited or hindered in any possible way concerning the resurrection. Regardless of what happens to our flesh & bones, in the resurrections He will resurrect our soul/mind and our spiritual body from the grave as well as also create for us a new physical body from the dust and ashes (regardless of location and regardless of method of burial) and resurrect that new flesh, just as He also created Adam from the dust. In the first resurrection, that new flesh will only be temporary and then we will quickly be turned totally to spirit. Everyone who rises in the second resurrection will remain in the flesh for 100 years.

Genesis 18:27 "And Abraham answered and said, Behold now, I have taken upon me to speak unto the Lord, which am but dust and ashes".

Why did Abraham say that? Why did he say both "dust and ashes"? The only possible reason would be that he had the mind frame of the possibility of cremation! There is no other possible reason!

Jer.34:2-5 The Burning of Incense at Funerals as a Sign of Honor
:2 Thus saith the Lord, the God of Israel; Go and speak to Zedekiah king of Judah, and tell him, Thus saith the Lord; Behold, I will give this city into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall burn it with fire:
3 And thou shalt not escape out of his hand, but shalt surely be taken, and delivered into his hand; and thine eyes shall behold the eyes of the king of Babylon, and he shall speak with thee mouth to mouth, and thou shalt go to Babylon.
4 Yet hear the word of the Lord, O Zedekiah king of Judah; Thus saith the Lord of thee, Thou shalt not die by the sword:
5 But thou shalt die in peace: and with the burnings of thy fathers, the former kings which were before thee, so shall they burn odours (incense) for thee; and they will lament thee, saying, Ah lord! for I have pronounced the word, saith the Lord.

Although Jer.34 doesn't speak directly of cremation of the body. It does help us to understand that ancient funerals/burials included the burning of incense if the person was respected. Why? Where & how did burning get connected with the burial of the dead? Despite the fact that many pagan societies also cremated their dead, we also see many biblical examples of The Almighty Creator approving of or ordering the burning of dead bodies, or ordering the death of people via fire. And it was not always the wicked who were cremated. We cannot forget that David, a righteous man, cremated his best friend.

Our prayers are also expressed as being a burning incense ascending up to God.
Rev 5:8 And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints.

Rev 8:3 And another angel came and stood at the altar, having a golden censer; and there was given unto him much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne.
:4 And the smoke of the incense, which came with the prayers of the saints, ascended up before God out of the angel's hand.

Sackcloth & Ashes
In addition to the burning of incense, we also see in the bible many examples, including Daniel 9:3, of repenting in ashes, praying with ashes, mourning in ashes, etc. Why the association of ashes? Because by burning something, you are sending it to The Creator.

Animal Sacrifices by Fire
Although pagans practiced many examples of fire in their worship and actually worshipped fire, we also have many examples of worship by fire to the true Creator. But we do not worship the fire like the pagans did/do. The Creator Himself ordered the animal sacrifices in the Old Covenant to be laid on the altar and it was consumed by fire. We no longer need to do any animal sacrifices, as The Holy Blood of Jesus Christ was shed for us and for the remission of our sins. Animal sacrifices can not atone for our sins. It really never did. It was only a foreshadowing of The Blood of Christ and the ultimate destruction of the wicked by fire, and the very presence of God Himself who is The Consuming Fire of The Lake of Fire. The only fire that we worship is The Creator Himself, but we do not worship any fire that we can presently see with our carnal eyes, except the fire that Moses saw! Whether it is prayers, incense, old covenant animal sacrifices that were done away, or cremation, we can send something to The Creator by fire. That's totally biblical! Many people refuse this revelation out of fear of partaking in paganism, which is understandable, but we must not live in fear of paganism if it is not paganism. Just because the pagans comb their hair, doesn't mean that we should never comb our hair. Just because the wicked people listen to music, doesn't mean that we should never listen to music. We just make sure that the music that we listen to is clean. We do not practice "strange fire", but rather holy fire. In fact, I am learning from Jesus Almighty that we should still be burning the Menorah every Sabbath Day, the weekly 7th Day and all of the Holy Days including Hanukkah. Click here to learn about lighting the Menorah and Hanukkah. The fact is that the pagans have copied much of their worship from true worship. Easter is a pagan copy of Passover. Christmas is a pagan copy of Hanukkah. Just because the pagans light fires to worship the devil, doesn't mean that the true Followers of Jesus should never light a fire for cooking, heat or even for worship. But we do not chant! And we are very careful about what symbols we use/accept/allow. And we are very careful about what words & names that we embrace!

Destruction of the Wicked by Fire
Again, many people will give the one sided approach about cremation, citing only the verses where the wicked were consumed by fire or cremated. I do admit that there are many such examples in the bible, including Sodom & Gomorrah, as well as the ultimate fate of the unrepentant wicked in the coming Lake of Fire. But again, we cannot turn a blind eye to the example of righteous David cremating his best friend! If we want the truth, we must look at both sides of the debate. In this article, I am not listing verse by verse the many examples of the wicked being consumed by fire because I believe that you are already familiar with that side of the debate and with those biblical accounts. But I do mention those examples for our consideration. But it is also true, that not only the wicked will be engulfed in The Lake of Fire but also the righteous Saints! But the Saints will not be harmed by that very intense, unrestrained, Presence of The Almighty God! Father JE (Click here for a detailed study of the Name of The Creator.) will reveal His very presence upon the entire Earth and consume every physical thing left upon the Earth immediately after The Great White Throne Judgment. And Everything/Everyone will be tested by His Consuming Fire! The only thing left standing will be The Saints and the newly remodeled Earth and newly remodeled universe.

1 Cor.3:1-17
:1 And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ.
2 I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able.
3 For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?
4 For while one saith, I am of Paul; and another, I am of Apollos; are ye not carnal?
5 Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers by whom ye believed, even as the Lord gave to every man?
6 I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.
7 So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase.
8 Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour.
9 For we are labourers together with God: ye are God's husbandry, ye are God's building.
10 According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise master-builder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon.
11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
12 Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble;
13 Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is.
14 If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.
15 If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.

Then the following verses of :16-17 says that we should not destroy the temple of God and that we are the temple of God. So that might make some people believe that we should not cremate the body. But we must remember that once The Holy Ghost of Jesus Christ leaves our body upon our death, our corpse is no longer the Temple of God. The context of verses 16-17 is not about destroying dead flesh, but rather warning against the murder/martyrdom of Christians.

The Fearless Woman in The Book of Maccabees
In the bible of Jesus' time, the Greek Septuagint (LXX), (now restored in The Alpha & Omega Bible) there was a book called "The Maccabees". In 4 Macc.16:1-17:4, there is the account of a family of a husband, wife and 7 sons who were all tortured and martyred by the evil Syrian antichrist king named Antiochus Epiphanes. The woman was the last one left yet she never cried or screamed while watching her entire family tortured & murdered by the evil, pagan king's soldiers. She knew & accepted that they all had to die in honor for The True Creator. When it came her turn to die, she threw herself on the fire instead of allowing the wicked to touch her body. She did not think it wicked to give herself to The Creator by fire, but rather an honor, and a better choice than to allow the wicked to indulge themselves in their own actions.

The Satanist Funeral Home Workers in our Modern Wicked Times
We have to face the sad reality of the extremely wicked world in which we live today. I feel very strongly that many of the people working in the funeral parlors are satanists. I have seen many news reports/articles in my life of where they caught the funeral workers having sex with the dead. I am not saying that happens in every town, but I have seen too many of these true news reports to be comfortable with recommending a normal funeral & burial at the hands of these strangers. (If possible, at least post a guard over the body!) The fact is that these funeral workers are strangers that we have never seen before! We do not know who they are! Are we going to trust the bodies of our wives, husband or children to these complete strangers? I do not think so! At least, no longer than absolutely necessary as required by law in your local community. Cremation allows for a much faster resolution to the disposal of the flesh/body, thus not giving the funeral workers as much time to mess with the bodies of our loved ones!
Even if the local funeral employees/workers/staff are not satanist, it's still extremely sick what we know for sure that they do to the human body in America. It might be different where you live, but here in the USA, it's documented fact that they cut off the legs of the bodies, that's why they always leave the bottom half of the casket closed! And they stab the back of the person in order to mount them into the coffin so that they will not fall out of the coffin. So the person is laying there with a mounting rod stabbed in their back! Of course, the flesh in nothing and none of this really matters. The dead person does not see, hear or know anything! Ecclesiastes 9:5-10. But nevertheless, I just think that it's sick what they do! I see cremation as more honorable.

Expense and Priorities
It is much less expensive to be cremated. By choosing cremation, you can save the surviving family a lot of money! We should not neglect the consideration of the needs of those left behind. Most of the time, the husband or wife is not only losing their loved one, but also the income that person provided.

James 1:27 Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

Isa.58:5 Is it such a fast that I have chosen? a day for a man to afflict his soul? is it to bow down his head as a bulrush, and to spread sackcloth and ashes under him? wilt thou call this a fast, and an acceptable day to the Lord?
6 Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke?
7 Is it not to deal thy bread to the hungry, and that thou bring the poor that are cast out to thy house? when thou seest the naked, that thou cover him; and that thou hide not thyself from thine own flesh?

By choosing cremation (and forbidding flowers, which is a pagan practice of giving an offering to the dead), we are choosing to humble ourselves & realize that the flesh is nothing. There is no need to spend so much money on a dead person that cannot see, smell or touch the dead flowers, neither can they see or enjoy the $2,000.00+ fancy, pretty coffin. 1 Tim.2:9 instructs women to not dress in an expensive manner out of pride. If we are not to dress expensively out of pride while alive, why should we do so while dead? Pure religion is to help the orphans and widows/widowers. By choosing cremation, we are doing exactly what scripture commands us to do: To consider the needs of the survivors!

The Great Tribulation
During the Day of The LORD, known to most people as "The Great Tribulation", there may be several possible reasons why cremation may become necessary. There will be many dead bodies laying in the streets and in people's houses, etc. We might not always have a shovel. The ground might be frozen at times. We might be in a rush to run from an army, etc. Quick disposal of the flesh may be necessary to prevent spread of disease. Although it can take a long time for the body to completely burn, you do not have to spend as much time setting the body on fire as what you would spend digging a huge hole in the ground. Some of us may not be physically able to dig such huge graves. Burning may be necessary when certain diseases may be spreading quickly. However, be warned: I have heard that the smell of a burning human body is gross! Set it on fire with a very strong raging fire with plenty of kindling to keep the fire going for several hours (it does take a long time to completely burn the body so leave lots of wood) and then get out of there! Also, before the Great Tribulation, according to The Holy Scriptures, like it or not, you must obey local laws & regulations. 1 Peter 2:13-18, Romans 13:17

Ancient History
In my research, I have found that the ancient Israelites/Hebrews practiced every way of disposal of the body: cremation, burial and embalming/preserving the body. Their practices and beliefs changed over & over depending on the influences of other nations. But both burial and cremation was definitely practiced before any pagan influence. They adopted embalming and preservation of dead bodies from the Egyptians. This was how they handled the Body of Jesus Christ. So even though it was a practice with origins from pagan people, it was still acceptable to Jesus and His family. Just because a pagan reads the internet doesn't mean that we cannot read the internet, etc. The family of Jesus did not attempt to preserve His Body for pagan purposes, nor in worship of pagan gods. But rather only for proper disposal of the body in a way that would not spread disease and was acceptable to their culture of the time. Some people like to point at only the many examples of pagan people practicing cremation, but ignore the examples of the ancient Hebrews and of David. I believe with The Holy Spirit that cremation is just one more option which has been chosen for thousands of years by many different people all across the world, by both pagans and just normal people doing what's necessary in their situation and culture. It is a personal choice.

Divine Revelations: The Reason I Wrote this Article Two days ago, at exactly 7:25 pm Eastern time, I received a text message from a dear Brother in Christ Jesus. The text message asked about whether cremation was acceptable or pagan. I had not been thinking about death or cremation on that day. My response was that the flesh is nothing. It is like the dirt or grass that is here today & will be cast into the oven/furnace tomorrow, Matt.6:30. Therefore it doesn't matter what happens to it. Within the same exact time of 7:25 pm, my wife received a phone call on her phone saying that a local woman that she knows had died! That cannot be coincidence! I do not serve coincidence! I serve The Almighty God who is in control! This got me researching, praying and seeking about cremation. My bible study was not bias, but rather objective, truly seeking what the Holy Scriptures really teach on this issue. I looked at both sides of the debate. You read my conclusion on this article. Then the next day, on the weekly 7th Day, I preached the sermon about cremation. Later that evening, we watched a good, clean, decent Christian movie (called "Hidden Secrets" by Pure Flix Films.) to help me to rest & relax. We did not know what the movie was about. But lo and behold! It was all about a funeral and the interactions & relationships of the people who had come to gather for the funeral! Although the movie did not contain anything about cremation, the very fact that I had just preached about death, funerals and the disposal of the flesh, then watched this movie based upon a funeral, this again cannot be coincidence! If anyone thinks that this is coincidence and that the 7:25 pm text message and phone call are coincidence, that person needs to be locked up in a mental institution because that's insane & irrational thinking! God/Jesus does speak to His people! He is real and alive and still working miracles on a daily basis! I see miracles on a regular and constant basis! His Word is not just in the written scriptures but also in our hearts and minds and lives. He teaches us one on one, personally, as our personal, private tutor! He is our ultimate Teacher/Rabbi!

Cremation may not be for everyone. I do not believe or teach that it's the only acceptable option. But neither must we teach that it's unacceptable. We do have biblical reference for cremation & it exercises pure religion by helping the finances of the widows & orphans left behind after death. Thus, the fruit of it is good! I also fully accept that Jesus Himself has sent this word to someone reading this today. In Jesus Wonderful Name!

But while we are alive, let us live clean and holy unto our holy God! "I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service". Romans 12:1. Please consider reading more of this website to learn how to live holy unto our awesome holy God.

Update, more Divine Confirmations! The woman who died has been cremated! Yet Tennessee is among the 4 lowest number of cremations in the USA. Only 16-22%. So it's not like that cremation is common here, because it's not. And it has only risen to 16-22% in recent years. It had been much lower until recent years. So for this woman to be cremated in this region and for us to be notified of her death at the exact same time as someone else asked me about cremation, that's God speaking! Then after these revelations, Jesus has also been bringing up the subject of funerals and cremation in my wife's audio apps. Plus, in this most recent update, we just got done watching another movie. We did not know it until we watched it, but there is an open cremation in the movie! I could have watched this movie several months ago, or years ago, but I have never watched it until tonight, making two movies in a row that has funerals in them. And not just a typical American burial, but rather an open cremation! That's Jesus Almighty speaking! Although cremations might not be for every person in every situation, it's very clear now that Jesus is saying that it's His Will for more Americans (and others) to embrace cremation.

Despite the claims of rebellious, hard headed, head hearted people who will read this, who will claim that I'm led by evil spirits, the truth is, I know The Voice of my Father in Heaven and no other voice will I follow. John 10:4-6 In Jesus Holy Name, so be it. Amen.
