Day of Atonement

This is an annual Holy Day (Holiday) of The Almighty. It is a commanded day of fasting. Although we are to fast often, this is the only day we are specifically commanded to fast. It's extremely important to the end time new covenant Christians. Let's study about the Day of Atonement. It's directly related to the account of the "scapegoat" in Lev.16:

The True Meaning of the Scapegoat of Lev.16

Some people say the scapegoat represents Christ. Others say it represents the devil. Which is true? Neither! During the season of The Day of Atonement of 2012, The Almighty Creator of Heaven and Earth gave unto me the True Meaning of the Scapegoat. We must start our study in Genesis.

Genesis 3:8-13
:8 And they heard the voice of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God amongst the trees of the garden. 9 And the Lord God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou? 10 And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself. 11 And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat? 12 And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat. 13 And the Lord God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat.

Did you read the above scriptures in your personal paperback/hardback bible today or just only on this website?
If only online, I encourage you to please open your bible and read these verses both on our website and in your bible. There is power in reading the real bible. Also, did you pray before beginning to read about this specific subject today? If not, I encourage you to take the time now to pray for understanding of truth.

In Gen. 3:13, above, The Hebrew word for "beguiled" is Strong's H5377 - nasha', to deceive, to remove, to be led astray. Remember that the scapegoat is Lev. 16 is led astray, led out of the camp.

Gen. 3:23-24
:23 Therefore the Lord God sent him (Adam and Eve) forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken. 24 So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.

In Gen. 3, Adam and Eve was deceived and led astray. That resulted in cursing. It also resulted in separation and removal from The Garden of Eden (Paradise). Now, let us see what happens in the next chapter with Cain and Abel, their children.

Gen. 4:8-16
:8 And Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him. 9 And the Lord said unto Cain, Where is Abel thy brother? And he said, I know not: Am I my brother's keeper? 10 And he said, What hast thou done? the voice of thy brother's blood crieth unto me from the ground. 11 And now art thou cursed from the earth, which hath opened her mouth to receive thy brother's blood from thy hand; 12 When thou tillest the ground, it shall not henceforth yield unto thee her strength; a fugitive and a vagabond shalt thou be in the earth. 13 And Cain said unto the Lord, My punishment is greater than I can bear. 14 Behold, thou hast driven me out this day from the face of the earth; and from thy face shall I be hid; and I shall be a fugitive and a vagabond in the earth; and it shall come to pass, that every one that findeth me shall slay me. 15 And the Lord said unto him, Therefore whosoever slayeth Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold. And the Lord set a mark upon Cain, lest any finding him should kill him. 16 And Cain went out from the presence of the Lord, and dwelt in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden.

So Cain was cursed and then separated and driven out, just like Adam and Eve had been driven out because of their iniquities.
Isaiah 59:2-3 But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear. 3 For your hands are defiled with blood, and your fingers with iniquity; your lips have spoken lies, your tongue hath muttered perverseness.

Now, Let's go to Lev. 16!

Leviticus 16:1-22

1 And the Lord spake unto Moses after the death of the two sons of Aaron, when they offered before the Lord, and died; (Separation occurring here.) 2 And the Lord said unto Moses, Speak unto Aaron thy brother, that he come not at all times into the holy place within the vail before the mercy seat, which is upon the ark; that he die not: for I will appear in the cloud upon the mercy seat. (Separation occurring here.)

3 Thus shall Aaron come into the holy place: with a young bullock for a sin offering, and a ram for a burnt offering. 4 He shall put on the holy linen coat, and he shall have the linen breeches upon his flesh, and shall be girded with a linen girdle, and with the linen mitre shall he be attired: these are holy garments; therefore shall he wash his flesh in water, and so put them on. 5 And he shall take of the congregation of the children of Israel two kids of the goats for a sin offering, and one ram for a burnt offering. 6 And Aaron shall offer his bullock of the sin offering, which is for himself, and make an atonement for himself, and for his house.

The word "Atonement" is Strong's H3722 - kaphar, to reconcile, to forgive, to cleanse, to purge out the old, to bring back through removal of the sins, to bring back into unity with God, at-one-ment. Lev. 16:7-8: 7 And he shall take the two goats, and present them before the Lord at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation. 8 And Aaron shall cast lots upon the two goats; one lot for the Lord, and the other lot for the scapegoat.

One goat was to be with the LORD and the other was to be removed from the LORD. The word "scapegoat" is Strong's H5799 - `aza'zel, to go, to go about, to be removed. The word "azazel" is from H5795 which means "goat" and H235 "azal" which means "to go", to go away, to go about, to go away, to be used up, be exhausted, be gone, evaporated. So, the scapegoat is the goat that is to removed or separated from the camp and from the presence of The LORD.

Lev. 16:9-22

:9 And Aaron shall bring the goat upon which the Lord's lot fell, and offer him for a sin offering.
(This represents those people who have accepted The LORD's Cleansing of our sins. We are forgiven. Atonement has been made for us. We are close to The LORD. We have been crucified with Christ. The Blood Atonement has been made.)
10 But the goat, on which the lot fell to be the scapegoat, shall be presented alive before the Lord, to make an atonement with him, and to let him go for a scapegoat into the wilderness.
(The scapegoat did not endure the atoning crucifixion of Christ. However, an Atonement was made for him, it's available to all people. But it's of no effect unless they themselves get crucified as well, spiritually speaking. This goat is led astray and driven out from the camp.)
11 And Aaron shall bring the bullock of the sin offering, which is for himself, and shall make an atonement for himself, and for his house, and shall kill the bullock of the sin offering which is for himself: 12 And he shall take a censer full of burning coals of fire from off the altar before the Lord, and his hands full of sweet incense beaten small, and bring it within the vail: 13 And he shall put the incense upon the fire before the Lord, that the cloud of the incense may cover the mercy seat that is upon the testimony, that he die not: 14 And he shall take of the blood of the bullock, and sprinkle it with his finger upon the mercy seat eastward; and before the mercy seat shall he sprinkle of the blood with his finger seven times. 15 Then shall he kill the goat of the sin offering, that is for the people, and bring his blood within the vail, and do with that blood as he did with the blood of the bullock, and sprinkle it upon the mercy seat, and before the mercy seat: 16 And he shall make an atonement for the holy place, because of the uncleanness of the children of Israel, and because of their transgressions in all their sins: and so shall he do for the tabernacle of the congregation, that remaineth among them in the midst of their uncleanness. 17 And there shall be no man in the tabernacle of the congregation when he goeth in to make an atonement in the holy place, until he come out, and have made an atonement for himself, and for his household, and for all the congregation of Israel. 18 And he shall go out unto the altar that is before the Lord, and make an atonement for it; and shall take of the blood of the bullock, and of the blood of the goat, and put it upon the horns of the altar round about. 19 And he shall sprinkle of the blood upon it with his finger seven times, and cleanse it, and hallow it from the uncleanness of the children of Israel. 20 And when he hath made an end of reconciling the holy place, and the tabernacle of the congregation, and the altar, he shall bring the live goat: 21 And Aaron shall lay both his hands upon the head of the live goat, and confess over him all the iniquities of the children of Israel, and all their transgressions in all their sins, putting them upon the head of the goat, and shall send him away by the hand of a fit man into the wilderness: 22 And the goat shall bear upon him all their iniquities unto a land not inhabited: and he shall let go the goat in the wilderness.

In verse 21-22, we see that the scapegoat has iniquities upon him. Isaiah 59:2 But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.

Therefore, the scapegoat does not represent Christ nor the devil. It represents those people who are lost, whose sins have separated themselves from God, they have been led astray and are wandering in the wilderness of the world. But Atonement is available to them, if they will repent and come back home and accept the Atonement and be Crucified with Christ. The other goat represents the Saints of God, who have already accepted the Atonement.

Romans 5:9-11
:9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. 10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. 11 And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.

Romans 11:15 For if the casting away of them be the reconciling of the world, what shall the receiving of them be, but life from the dead?

2 Corinthians 5:17-21
:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. 18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; 19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. 20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God. 21 For he hath made him to be (a) sin (offering) for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

Ephesians 2:11-22
:11 Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands; 12 That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world: 13 But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ. 14 For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us; 15 Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace; 16 And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby: 17 And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh. 18 For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father. 19 Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God; 20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone; 21 In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord: 22 In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.

Luke 15:11-14, 32
:11 And he said, A certain man had two sons: 12 And the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of goods that falleth to me. And he divided unto them his living. 13 And not many days after the younger son gathered all together, and took his journey into a far country, and there wasted his substance with riotous living. 14 And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that land; and he began to be in want.
:32 It was meet that we should make merry, and be glad: for this thy brother was dead, and is alive again; and was lost, and is found.

Matthew 25:31-34, 41
:31 When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory: 32 And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats: 33 And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left. 34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:
41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:

Revelation 2:7 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.

Revelation 20:11-15
11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. 12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. 13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. 14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. 15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

Rev. 21:1-7
:1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. 2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. 3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. 4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. 5 And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful. 6 And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. 7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.

Rev. 22:1-7
:1 And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb. 2 In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. 3 And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him: 4 And they shall see his face; and his name shall be in their foreheads. 5 And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever. 6 And he said unto me, These sayings are faithful and true: and the Lord God of the holy prophets sent his angel to shew unto his servants the things which must shortly be done. 7 Behold, I come quickly: blessed is he that keepeth the sayings of the prophecy of this book.

Praise God! The Day of Atonement represents reconciliation. The removal of sin, and bringing us back to God and to Paradise, which will be the Garden of Eden worldwide, the newly remodeled Earth, when God Himself shall live with us, and us with Him! We will no longer be separated. Amen.

Passover represents Christ's death/crucifixion for us. The 7 Days of Unleavened Bread represents the lifelong process of purification and removal of sins. Pentecost represents the receiving of the Holy Ghost of Jesus Christ who died but is now alive. It also represents the First Resurrection and empowerment of spiritual gifts. The Feast of Trumpets represents the opening of the 7th Seal and the blowing of the 7 Trumpets during that time. The Day of Atonement represents reconciliation via the atoning blood of Christ. The Day of Atonement also represents a coming time of wrath for the disobedient, and also the day when the saints will be caught up into Heaven for the Marriage Supper. The Feast of Tabernacles represents mankind dwelling in temporary bodies, and also represents the 1,000 year millennium. The Last Great Day or "the 8th Day", represents the completion of all things, the New Heavens and New Earth.

When to Observe The Day of Atonement

Lev. 23
:26 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 27 Also on the tenth day of this seventh month (in the creation calendar, not in the modern calendars) there shall be a day of atonement: it shall be an holy convocation (a commanded worship assembly) unto you; and ye shall afflict your souls, and offer an offering made by fire (our prayers are now our offerings by fire) unto the LORD. 28 And ye shall do no work in that same day: for it is a day of atonement, to make an atonement for you before the LORD your God. 29 For whatsoever soul it be that shall not be afflicted in that same day, he shall be cut off from among his people. 30 And whatsoever soul it be that doeth any work in that same day, the same soul will I destroy from among his people. 31 Ye shall do no manner of work: it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations in all your dwellings. 32 It shall be unto you a sabbath of rest, and ye shall afflict your souls: in the ninth day of the month at even, from even unto even, shall ye celebrate your sabbath.

As explained in the article "When Does The Day Start?", 24 hour "day" time periods were originally sunrise to sunrise. The Israelites learned the "sunset to sunset" practice from the moon worshipping pagans during the Assyrian and Babylonian captivity. In this bible passage, it plainly says the Day of Atonement is the 10th Day! It is repeatedly stated as "the same day"! The confusion comes about where it says in verse 32 "ninth day of the month at even, from even unto even". This is the only "sabbath" or holy day where it uses this phrase of "even to even", other than the Days of Unleavened Bread which is a fast from leavened foods! Only commanded fast days are described in scripture as being observed "even to even". History shows that the Jews typically fasted only sunrise to sunset, not a full 24 hours unless it was a commanded fast. Therefore, for a non-commanded fast, they could get up early before sunrise and eat, then start fasting on a full stomach. But it would not be good to eat a big meal just before sunrise and then immediately proclaim your fast and say "I'm going to fast now", when you just finished stuffing your stomach! No, you must have your stomach already empty at sunrise, the beginning of the Day of Atonement to be a true fast of afflicting our soul! So that is why The Almighty wants you to start your fasting for this special Holy Day on the previous evening on the 9th. But the actual Holy Day is the 10th as it says it is! So, The Day of Atonement is sunrise to sunrise as are all 24 hour days and Holy Days. But we observe this commanded fast from all foods & also commanded rest from sunset the previous evening, until sunset on the Day of Atonement. The rest of the evening, although is still the Day of Atonement, is not a commanded period of fasting & resting. Jesus is gracious to require us to fast & rest for Atonement for only 24 hours, not 36 hours. If the Day of Atonement, in a particular year, occurs on the same day as the weekly 7th Day, Saturday, then you should continue your rest until sunrise Sunday morning, but the fast is only 24 hrs from sunset to sunset.

The Saints will be caught up into Heaven on the Day of Atonement (of some year).

The saints will be caught up to Heaven on the Day of Atonement; and then observe the Feast of Tabernacles in Heaven; then return with Jesus in the 8th month. This is why:
1. Rev.15:1-8 is very clear that the Temple of God in Heaven is opened (on the Day of Atonement) on the day that the Saints are caught up to Heaven, 41.5 days (Rev.11 Dan.12) before Jesus lands on on Earth.
2. The book of 2 Chron.5 confirms to us that we will observe the Feast of Tabernacles with Jesus on Earth (Zech.14) in the 7th month, the following year after the Temple of God in Heaven is opened. Notice the exact same words in Rev.15 and 2 Chron.5 concerning the smoke/cloud of the intense presence of God in the Temple at the Feast of Tabernacles, and the Glory of God is so much that the people cannot stand in the Temple. This is a very powerful confirmation of the time line.
3. If Jesus were to come back in the 7th month, on Trumpets, Atonement or Tabernacles, it would not make any sense for Jesus to demand all of the world to immediately come up to Jerusalem for Tabernacles (Zech.14), because there would not be enough time to teach the people, prepare the people and prepare the city of Jerusalem. Ezek.39 declares that it will take 7 months to bury all of the dead bodies from the war. If all of the world were to come to Jerusalem in the very same month that Jesus returns, then they would come to a city full of smelling, nasty, dirty, bleeding, disease infested dead bodies laying all over the place. It would not be sanitary for any human. Also, Rev.14:20 says that there will be blood up to the horse's bridle. That is several feet deep! People would not be able to walk or drive in the streets of Jerusalem. Therefore, it will take time to clean the streets, repair buildings, bury the dead and prepare the city for all of the people who will be coming to Jerusalem the following year.

So it is now clear that the saints will be caught up to Heaven on the Day of Atonement. Then Jesus will return the following month (8th month) with those saints at the Battle of Armageddon. However, there still remains the issue of the symbolic sacrifices of wicked people as if they are the 4 specific animals that were sacrificed on the Day of Atonement every year. Here is the solution to that: Although Jesus will not land on Earth when the saints are caught up to Heaven at the blowing of the 7th Trumpet, He will partially descend in the sky to meet the saints as they are being caught upward. 1 Thes.4:16. Plus, his kingdom does begin on that very same day (Rev.11:15) even though He does not land on Earth until 41.5 days later at the end of the Wrath of God. Rev.16:15, Rev.19. Therefore, since Jesus does partially descend on the Day of Atonement, and His kingdom does begin that day, and his wrath begins that day, then it can be acceptable to consider that the sacrifice/slaughter of the wicked begins on the Day of Atonement (first day of wrath) and finishes on the last day of wrath, at the Battle of Armageddon.

If the saints are caught up to Heaven on the Day of Atonement, then the Strong Delusion of the antichrist appearing in the Temple of God in Heaven, would automatically occur on the date of Purim.

Before these prophecies could possibly be fulfilled, we would have to see something else occur first: We would have to see USA attack Assad directly, thus igniting WW3 and bringing about the Abomination of Desolation = Assad in the Sky/Heaven. After seeing those events, we will be able to calculate exactly 1,335 days from the Abomination of Desolation until the Return of Jesus Christ! It will not be impossible to know the date after the beginning of the countdown of the 1,335 days of Daniel 12.

The scriptures declare that when Jesus really does come back to the Earth, that it will be on the day of the Battle of Armageddon.
The following scriptures also indicate that in the final year before Jesus returns, the wicked will be slaughtered as if they were the animals that were previously sacrificed only on the Day of Atonement. Isa.34:1-9, Numbers 29:7-11, Ezek.39:17-19, Deut.32:34-43, Rev.11:19 Please pause to read those scriptures!

The word "Atonement" in ancient Paleo-Hebrew language means "propitiation, reparation, repay, make amends by sacrifice for a wrong committed."

Also, some Jews wear their wedding garments (white robes) on the Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur) & their own personal weddings are called "private Yom Kippur". Because it is acknowledged that the Wedding Feast of the Messiah will be on the Day of Atonement. Rev.19 declares that we will be given white robes for our Marriage Feast of the Lamb of God (Jesus).

But which Day of Atonement? As of Dec. 22 2019, it's totally impossible for Jesus to return between 2019-2022 because Jesus does not lie & the scriptures cannot be broken. We are promised exactly 1,335 days from the Abomination of Desolation (fake coming of Jesus, Assad appears in Heaven) until the real coming of Jesus. Dan.12:6-13 Not one day more, Not one day less. Please pause to read those verses. We cannot fit 1,335 days within 2019-2022. The earliest possible Day of Atonement would be in 2023 & beyond. (Update added in 2022: To fit 1,335 days beginning at Purim of some possible future year, the earliest Marriage Super, 1st resurrection, would be no earlier than the Day of Atonement of 2026 or a later year.)

Is it really impossible for anyone to ever come to know the day of Jesus' Return? Matt.24:36 "But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only".

"Knoweth" is current tense. It was written over 2,000 years ago. It does not say "will never know" or "impossible to find out". Perhaps the date had not yet been set firm. But as the date approaches, surely the date will be set!

Have you ever received a wedding invitation that did not have a declared date? Will the Groom know the date of the wedding, but the bride will not know? 43 "But know this, that if the good man of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up".

Will Jesus come as a "thief" to his own bride? 1 Thes.5:4 "But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief".

Why Fasting Ends in the Midst of the Day of Atonement at Sunset

All days begin and end first thing in the morning at sunrise. Most people who observe the holy days have erroneously been taught that the holy days are sunset to sunset. That is only a tradition of the Jews that they learned from pagans during their time in the Assyrian and Babylonian captivities. But we are commanded to afflict our souls (fast) on the Day of Atonement on the 10th of the 7th month starting from the sunset of the previous day on the 9th, which in itself also proves that the days are sunrise to sunrise, because you can not start fasting at sunset the previous day on the 9th if that same sunset begins the 10th day! That would not make any sense. Only by having the days go from sunrise to sunrise does it make any sense to begin fasting on the previous day on the 9th at sunset and it not yet be the 10th.
Only the fasting and resting for the observance of the Day of Atonement in the Autumn and the fasting from unleavened bread for the "Feast of Unleavened Bread" in the spring of the year are commanded to be observed from sunset to sunset. None of the other holy days carry that commandment. Please click here for more proof of sunrise to sunrise.
There is something very unique about the Day of Atonement that explains why we fast only until sunset on the Day of Atonement, when in fact the holy day itself does not end until sunrise of the 11th. And that is the fact that the saints will be caught up into Heaven during their fasting on the Day of Atonement, thereby breaking their fast during the midst of the holy day! When we are caught up into Heaven for the Marriage Supper, we will no longer have any flesh. Our flesh will be turned into spirit. We will marry Christ and will partake in a great feast of wine and food in Heaven. That will break our fast! Therefore, every year, we break our fast in the middle of the Day of Atonement at sunset to represent that we will break our fast when we are caught up for the Marriage Supper!

How To Observe The Day of Atonement

Isa. 58:13-14 (NASB)
:13 "If because of the sabbath, you turn your foot From doing your own pleasure on My holy day, And call the sabbath a delight, the holy day of the LORD honorable, And honor it, desisting from your own ways, From seeking your own pleasure And speaking your own word, 14 Then you will take delight in the LORD, And I will make you ride on the heights of the earth; And I will feed you with the heritage of Jacob your father, For the mouth of the LORD has spoken."

The purpose of this "do not do" list is to be a generalized guideline for people to consider for their choices of what to refrain from on The Sacred Days. It is not meant to be a concrete list for everyone. Again this is just a generalized list which will not be true for everyone. But I do believe it will be true for most people.
