Most people would say "Just believe in Jesus Christ as your saviour and ask him into your heart". John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
But is that all there is to it? Just belief and asking? Well certainly that is the beginning! That is your first step, yes. You must believe that Jesus Christ is God (click for proof) and that He is the Messiah Saviour and ask him into your heart and into Your life. But is there even more?
Let's take a look at the Greek Word for "believeth" in John 3:16
Strong's G4100 - pisteuo. Transliteration: pisteuo. Pronunciation = pe-styu'-o. Part of Speech = verb. Root Word (Etymology) From G4102.
Authorized Version (KJV) Translation Count — Total: 248 AV — believe 239, commit unto 4, commit to (one's) trust 1, be committed unto 1, be put in trust with 1, be commit to one's trust 1, believer 1
The Amplified bible says it this way in John 3:16
For God so greatly loved and dearly prized the world that He [even] gave up His only begotten Son, so that whoever believes in (trusts in, clings to, relies on) Him shall not perish (come to destruction, be lost) but have eternal (everlasting) life.
James 2:19 (KJV)
Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.
The devils (fallen angels, demons) also believe in God and they know who Jesus is! Acts 19:15 And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye?
According to other verses in the bible, that means that you forsake your former way of life and become a new creature in Christ (2 Cor. 5:17). You become a new person. You give up doing it your way and start living God's way. In other words, you repent. You make a turn around. Many people believe the word "repent" means to confess. But actually it means to turn around, to make a change in lifestyle.
37 Now when they heard [this], they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men [and] brethren, what shall we do? 38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
So, you must believe in Christ, confess to Him your sins (Romans 10:9), and repent (stop what you were doing and start following Him) and be baptized and receive The Holy Ghost!
Jesus said in John 3:7 "Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again", which means that you must be born from above, which means you receive the Holy Ghost and become a new person.
But then many people just go to church one time and get baptized and then stay home and think they are okay and that they are once saved always saved. But actually there is more they need to do!
25 And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted (tested) him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?
26 He said unto him, What is written in the law? how readest thou?
27 And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.
28 And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live.
18 And a certain ruler asked him, saying, Good Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?
19 And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? none [is] good, save one, [that is], God.
20 Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honour thy father and thy mother.
21 And he said, All these have I kept from my youth up.
22 Now when Jesus heard these things, he said unto him, Yet lackest thou one thing: sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me.
23 And when he heard this, he was very sorrowful: for he was very rich.
So we see in the book of Luke that Jesus said we are to keep the Commandments! Yes we are saved by grace by the blood of Jesus. But then we must do a work! We are not saved by works as it says in Ephesians 2:8-10. Most people read verses 8-9 and then stop. But notice verse 10.
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast. 10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
14 What [doth it] profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith (belief) save him? 15 If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food, 16 And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be [ye] warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what [doth it] profit? 17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. 18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works. 19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. 20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? 21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar? 22 Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect? 23 And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God. 24 Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only. 25 Likewise also was not Rahab the harlot justified by works, when she had received the messengers, and had sent [them] out another way? 26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.
21 Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls. 22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. 23 For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: 24 For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. 25 But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed. 26 If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion [is] vain. 27 Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, [and] to keep himself unspotted from the world.
So, we cannot allow ourselves to become like the Laodiceans (Rev. 3:14-19) who think they are rich (saved) but actually they are lukewarm (without works). If we are lukewarm, without fruit, we wither away and die and will be thrown into the fire! (John 15:1-10)
And also, we must continue in the Faith:
And we must make ourselves ready and prepare to meet Jesus by washing ourselves in his blood. Rev. 7:14, 1 Cor. 6:11-20 and 2 Cor. 6:2-7:1
What must I do to be saved?
Now that you are saved, you must continue in the faith & grow in knowledge & understanding of true doctrine. You will need to read the bible and study the bible.
You will need to examine & test all doctrines that you believe, in order to make sure that you are following the true doctrines of Jesus Christ rather than the many wrong traditional denominations of mankind.
Start praying at least 3 times per day.
Start fasting. Click here for how to pray & fast effectively.
Keep all 10 Commandments including the 7th day of rest & worship which is Saturday.
You need to stop attending all Sunday churches & start gathering with people who keep the true 7th Day as commanded in scripture. (Click here for proof),
Obey & respect the Father, keeping yourself spotless from the world. Abstain from sin.
Never go back, keep going forward. Salvation is immediate but it is also a process.
You will also need to keep the annual commanded festivals (holidays, holy days) of The Kingdom of God. Click here for more information.
You must abstain from Christmas & Easter because they are ancient pagan Assyrian holidays that actually worship Bashar Assad, the fallen angel antichrist. Proof about Christmas. and proof about Easter. And also why Halloween is satanic. And here is proof that Assad is the antichrist.
Just because you got saved via grace, mercy, prayer & the blood of Jesus Christ doesn't mean that you can live your life in wrong doctrines & paganism & still go to Heaven or enter the fullness of the Kingdom & live forever in your traditional doctrinal errors of man's religions. I have provided you links to articles that give you proof from the bible that you need to obey God in the truth. Anyone who does not obey God in the truth is not truly saved.More proof in the following video that just believing is not enough:
